EXPLORE CHRISTIAN FAITH

Explore clear introductions to what Christians believe about God, Jesus, the Bible, the Church, the Holy Spirit, salvation, prayer, and baptism. You do not need to have faith figured out before you begin.

  • The Bible

We believe the Bible is inspired by God and is the authoritative guide for the Church’s faith and life. Through Scripture, we learn who God is, what God has done through Jesus Christ, and how we are called to live.

  • The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ - a holy community of believers, united by faith in Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Church isn’t just a building; it’s a people - called to worship God, love one another, and serve the world. We are committed to living as faithful disciples, growing together in grace, and sharing the hope of the gospel with everyone we meet.

Guided by the Spirit, we strive to be a church known for our love, our unity, and our passion to make Jesus known in our community and beyond.

  • Jesus

    We Believe in Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully divine and fully human, the Son of God and the center of Christian faith. His life, death, and resurrection reveal God’s grace and offer forgiveness, reconciliation, and hope.

We follow Jesus by embracing His teachings, love, grace, humility, and repentance, and by living out His example in the world. As we love and serve others, we reflect the heart of Christ and share the good news of what He has done.

  • Holy Spirit

We Believe in the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s presence at work in and among us, guiding, comforting, correcting, and equipping people to follow Jesus and serve others.

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, God’s presence with us, working in and through us every day. The Spirit brings comfort, guidance, conviction, and strength, helping us understand the truth of Scripture and live it out in our daily lives.

  • The Trinity

We believe in one God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

This is known as the Trinity, a foundational truth of the Christian faith. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, distinct in role, yet united in nature and purpose.

Together, they exist in perfect relationship, creating, sustaining, redeeming, and guiding all things. The Trinity helps us understand God as both powerful and personal, inviting us into a relationship marked by love, unity, and trust.

Believing in the Trinity shapes how we see God, how we follow Jesus, and how we live in step with the Holy Spirit. It's not just doctrine, it’s the heartbeat of our faith.

  • Salvation

We Believe in Salvation by Grace Through Faith

We believe salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot earn God’s love; in Christ, we are forgiven, restored, and invited into new life.

We believe that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Sent by God to rescue us, Jesus made the way for us to be forgiven, restored, and given eternal life.

When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we are made new fully forgiven, deeply loved, and eternally secure in Him.

  • Baptism

We Believe in Baptism as a Sign of God’s Grace

Baptism is one of the two sacraments celebrated by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We baptize children and adults as a sign and seal of God’s covenant grace and welcome into the life of Christ’s Church. It’s a public declaration of our trust in Jesus, a beautiful symbol of dying to our old life and being raised to new life in Christ.

At Oceanside First Presbyterian Church, we’re honored to walk with believers as they take this important step, celebrating what God has done and proclaiming a life lived for Him.

  • Prayer

We Believe in the Power of Prayer

We believe prayer is honest communication with God individually and together. In prayer, we offer gratitude, confess, ask for help, listen, and entrust ourselves and others to God’s care.

We believe that prayer is powerful and essential, a way to connect with God personally and as a community. Through prayer, we express our faith, seek God’s guidance, and invite His presence into every part of our lives. Prayer draws us closer to God, aligns us with His will, and reminds us that we are never alone. It’s a sacred rhythm of the Christian life, our ongoing conversation with a loving Father.
