What We Believe

We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.

  • The Bible

We believe in the divine inspiration of the Bible, that it is the true and inspired word of God. We believe that the Bible is our standard for life, and its truth, integrity, and relevance is of utmost importance. The Bible is not just a book, but a living guide, full of God’s wisdom and guidance. Through scripture, we learn about God’s character, how to live and act, and how to grow in our spiritual journey. We believe that by reading and studying the Bible, we are able to draw closer to God and deepen our understanding of His love.

  • The Church

    We Believe in the Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ—a holy community of believers, united by faith in Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Church isn’t just a building; it’s a people—called to worship God, love one another, and serve the world. We are committed to living as faithful disciples, growing together in grace, and sharing the hope of the gospel with everyone we meet.

Guided by the Spirit, we strive to be a church known for our love, our unity, and our passion to make Jesus known—in our community and beyond.

  • Jesus

    We Believe in Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God—fully divine, fully human, and the center of our faith. He is the Word made flesh, sent to reveal God’s love and become the ultimate sacrifice for our sin so that we might be forgiven and receive eternal life.

Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection are the foundation of our hope. His resurrection confirms His deity and assures us that death does not have the final word.

We follow Jesus by embracing His teachings—love, grace, humility, and repentance—and by living out His example in the world. As we love and serve others, we reflect the heart of Christ and share the good news of what He has done.

  • Holy Spirit

We Believe in the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity—God’s presence with us, working in and through us every day. The Spirit brings comfort, guidance, conviction, and strength, helping us understand the truth of Scripture and live it out in our daily lives.

The Holy Spirit unites us with God, empowers us to follow Jesus, and equips us with spiritual gifts like wisdom, healing, encouragement, and prophecy—so that we can serve others and share God’s love with the world.

We believe the Holy Spirit is always with us—leading, teaching, and transforming us from the inside out.ve.

  • The Trinity

We believe in one God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is known as the Trinity—a foundational truth of the Christian faith. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, distinct in role, yet united in nature and purpose.

Together, they exist in perfect relationship—creating, sustaining, redeeming, and guiding all things. The Trinity helps us understand God as both powerful and personal—inviting us into a relationship marked by love, unity, and trust.

Believing in the Trinity shapes how we see God, how we follow Jesus, and how we live in step with the Holy Spirit. It's not just doctrine—it’s the heartbeat of our faith.

  • Salvation

We Believe in Salvation by Grace Through Faith

We believe that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Sent by God to rescue us, Jesus made the way for us to be forgiven, restored, and given eternal life.

Salvation isn’t something we can earn—it’s a gift of grace, received by trusting in Jesus and turning from our sin. No matter our past, God’s love and mercy are always available.

When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we are made new—fully forgiven, deeply loved, and eternally secure in Him.

  • Baptism

We Believe in the Power of Baptism

We believe that baptism is a sacred and meaningful step in a believer’s journey of faith. It’s a public declaration of our trust in Jesus—a beautiful symbol of dying to our old life and being raised to new life in Christ.

Baptism doesn’t save us, but it reflects the inward transformation that comes through salvation. It’s a powerful act of obedience and an expression of our commitment to follow Jesus.

At Oceanside First Presbyterian, we’re honored to walk with believers as they take this important step, celebrating what God has done and proclaiming a life lived for Him.

  • Prayer

We Believe in the Power of Prayer

We believe that prayer is powerful and essential—a way to connect with God personally and as a community. Through prayer, we express our faith, seek God’s guidance, and invite His presence into every part of our lives.

Whether we’re praying for strength, healing, wisdom, or peace, we trust that God hears and responds—in His perfect timing and in His perfect way.

Prayer draws us closer to God, aligns us with His will, and reminds us that we are never alone. It’s a sacred rhythm of the Christian life—our ongoing conversation with a loving Father.

  • Presbyterian Church USA

Our church is part of a bigger group of churches called the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

It’s a family of churches that believes the Bible is God’s Word, that Jesus is at the center of everything, and that grace—not guilt—is the starting point of faith.

Being Presbyterian means we work together.

Our church isn’t just on its own. We’re connected to other churches for support, accountability, and shared mission. We also have elders & deacons who are our wise, caring leaders, who together with the pastor help guide our church family.

The PC(USA) has deep roots and we’re always learning and growing more about God. We believe faith is thoughtful, worship should be meaningful, and everyone has a place to belong.
