How Long Has Oceanside First Presbyterian Church Been in Oceanside?

Why Was Oceanside First Presbyterian Church Started?

In 1948, Oceanside was growing rapidly. Families were moving into the community. Military personnel were arriving through nearby Camp Pendleton. New neighborhoods were taking shape across North County.

As the city grew, local Christian leaders recognized a simple need: People needed a place to encounter Jesus, build meaningful relationships, and find spiritual support for everyday life.

Oceanside First Presbyterian Church was established to meet that need.

From the beginning, the vision was never just to build a church building. The vision was to build a church family.

  • A place where children could learn about God's love.
  • A place where families could find encouragement.
  • A place where neighbors could serve one another.
  • A place where people could discover hope in Jesus Christ.

More than seventy-five years later, that vision continues to guide everything we do.
